Plymouth Hoe and Smeaton's Tower, then the waterfront walk to the Barbican and Mayflower Steps. Coffee stop in an indie cafe on Southside Street.
Lunch
Seafood overlooking Sutton Harbour - watch the fishing boats come and go.
Afternoon
The Plymouth Gin Distillery tour, then The Box - Plymouth's flagship museum with its extraordinary hall of ships' figureheads (free entry).
Evening
Show at the Theatre Royal - the UK's largest regional producing theatre - or bar-hop the Barbican's historic waterfront pubs.

Sunday - Across the Water

Morning
Cremyll Ferry across to Mount Edgcumbe Country Park in Cornwall - 800 acres of parkland, formal gardens and a Tudor house. Walk a stretch of the South West Coast Path towards Cawsand for sea views all the way.
Lunch
Sunday roast back in Plymouth, or a pub lunch in Cawsand/Kingsand before the ferry back.
Afternoon
Royal William Yard for a lazy final afternoon - galleries, bakeries and a last drink on the water. In summer, squeeze in a swim at Tinside Lido before you leave.
