The Box. Plymouth's award-winning museum, gallery and archive. Free entry, world-class exhibitions, the famous ships' figureheads suspended overhead, and a good cafe. Easily a whole morning.
Lunch
Market Hall or a harbour pub. Plymouth Market's food stalls for cheap eats, or a centuries-old Barbican pub with a fire and a view of the rain on the water.
Afternoon
Pick your indoors: the National Marine Aquarium (100% under cover), the Plymouth Gin Distillery tour with tasting, or afternoon tea somewhere elegant on the Hoe.
Evening
Theatre Royal. West End tours, drama and comedy at the UK's largest regional producing theatre. Book ahead for the big shows.
